"We must help the child to act for himself, will for himself, think for himself (...) The education of even a small child, therefore, does not aim at preparing him for school, but for life."

Maria Montessori

The School

Montessori Rive Gauche is located in Collonge-Bellerive / Vésenaz, 15 chemin des Gotettes, in the middle of a nearly 3'000 sqm garden.

The school garden is entirely fenced and supports the children’s growing curiosity to explore nature in complete safety. They can enjoy gardening activities, physical exercises on a trampoline, playing agility games and also go on insect hunts, sit and observe birds and squirrels in our magnificent trees. It's a lovely and peaceful place where your child will blossom in the middle of nature.

Access by car is very simple and parking spaces are available in the school car park to drop off the children.

By public transport, bus G stops in front of the school (Petray bus stop).

The Montessori Method

"Education is not what the teacher gives; education is a natural process spontaneously carried out by the human individual, and is acquired not by listening to words but by experiences upon the environment". Maria Montessori

Our Offer

All our classrooms offer a mixed age and bilingual (French-English) environment. Our teachers are AMI Montessori trained and speak in their own language. Both 3-6- and 6-12-year-old sections are certified by the Association Montessori Suisse AM(S).

Our school is also labelled "Eco-Schools" since 2022.

3 to 6 years old

Part time & full time

We welcome children from three years old in one of our two bilingual classrooms. Our qualified Montessori teachers will take care of the part-time children through the morning until 1:30 pm when the others will enjoy a full school day until 3:30 pm. In both cases, a healthy lunch is included in the school premises.

6 to 12 years old

Full time

When the child is ready, usually around 6 years old, he moves to the bilingual (French-English) 6-12 House. Following the Geneva Department of Public Instruction (DIP) requirements, six teachers will support your child’s growing curiosity with the Swiss Educational model (Harmos 3P to 8P) in the Montessori way.

After-School childcare

After class, children can stay at the after-school childcare to enjoy indoor art and craft activities as well as outdoor playtime. Montessori Rive Gauche also offers a wide range of other activities supervised by professionals within the school premises (piano and guitar lessons, robotics, wood work, yoga, mindfulness…).

Staff

Our team is very international. We have 13 teachers who come from all over the world: Switzerland, France, Great Britain, USA, South Africa, Germany... They each have official diplomas (3-6 or 6-12 years old) recognized by the "Association Montessori Internationale" (AMI) or equivalent.

Sport and music, as well as the practice of Brain Gym, RMT (Rythmic Movement Training) and IMP (Intégration Motrice Primordiale) are also part of everyday life at Montessori Rive Gauche.
